“It has what it takes to get your there.” That was the pitch for the 1978 International Harvester Scout II — an Indiana-built SUV with a removable roof that was renowned for its off-road capability.

Power comes from a 345-cu.in. OHV V8, the biggest of three engines offered for the year.
New, it was rated at 163 horsepower and 292 lb-ft of torque.
A Chrysler-supplied TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission backs the V8.
Driveline details also included a Dana Spicer Model 20 two-speed transfer case.
All the powertrain elements are said to be in good-operating condition.
Photos show the original radiator has been replaced with an aluminum version.
According to the seller, the exterior has had a single respray of the original Siam Yellow color.
The roof rack is a factory part.
The Scout is equipped with a factory CB radio and an AM radio.
The finish appears in good condition, with a few apparent touch-ups on the tailgate.
